Topics of conversation include Spanish as marker and affirmation of Latine identity, one's relationship and emotional bonds to Spanish and English, experiences with language as barriers and portals to educational success, what it means to be marked as “accented” or “proper”, and negotiations of linguistic expectations that others imposed on us.
